Ritchie Shoemaker, MD has been researching fatiguing illnesses for nearly 10 years.  Early on he hypothesized that CFIDS, fibromyalgia, Sick Building Syndrome (mold exposure) and chronic Lyme’s Disease all had something in common: exposure to biotoxins.  With several new studies nearing publication, his hypothesis, which explains why the immune system of some susceptible individuals becomes disregulated, is now gaining acceptance within the medical community.   Biotoxin illness is caused when a person is exposed to specific toxins, most of which are produced by organisms such as bacteria, molds and fungi. Once exposed, genetically susceptible individuals are unable to clear the toxin naturally, and this sets in motion a chain reaction, which disrupts normal processes in the body. These disruptions result in a disregulation of the innate immune response. Dr. Shoemaker and his research team have developed an on-line screening test, which is based on soon to be published research.  The test and more information on Biotoxin Illnesses (cfids, fibro, chronic Lyme’s, Mold and more) and the Shoemaker Treatment Protocol can be found at www.biotoxin.info
